This is Really Cool....

For those of you with diabetic kids, this device is a must-have...

From what I can tell, it looks like a caregiver tests your child's BG, and the result is sent to you via your cell phone. Emma's too young still to need this device just yet, and because she is on a CGMS we don't do as much finger-stick testing as we used to. But it sure would be nice on those few occassions that she is hanging out with one of her plethora of grandparents.

  1. There are other questions to answer when you think about how you manage:
    - how often do you look for patterns/trends?
    - how much time does it take to do that review?
    - since action based on bg requires a fingerstick (not cgm alone) what do those trends look like?
    - are you ever surprised to find out that you just called home only to find out that mom and child are in the middle of a severe high/low?

Essentially, just having knowledge and awareness during a typical day across your d-team is probably more important than just looking at real-time bg for special events only.

    Thanks for the love !
