It's nice to know people are still reading my blog!
Right now I am sitting on the couch watching my two kiddos play together and watching House of Mouse, and anxiously awaiting that time of year most men yearn for and most women dread: Football Season. That's right, as I sit here I am but 5 long hours away from my beloved Dallas Cowboys kicking off with the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland has some offense, Edwards and Winslow receiving, Jamal Lewis at RB, and Derek Anderson at QB. For sure though, they have a terrible defense, and I suspect that Romo, Barber, TO, and the rest of the gang won't have a lot of trouble scoring today.
Along with football season comes that awkward fashion time of year when it's chilly enough in the morning to require long pants, but then still hot in the afternoon. Often this time of year requires me to take a change of shorts and shoes to work every day. Within a few weeks I am hoping I can go with the shorts and long-sleeved shirt. That always seems to work out nicely. Of course in Lubbock, truly cold weather always, ALWAYS, waits until Halloween night. Every year I swear I am going to get a remote starter for my truck so Brenden and I don't freeze all the way to school and work. Is Brenden old enough now to learn how to go outside and start the truck?
I'm not a fan of Halloween. I think it's kind of twisted and evil, and lately it seems to be an excuse for women to dress like tramps. I'm not really complaining, it was just an observation.
Remember the days when we didn't have to "screen" cartoons to make sure they were appropriate? Maybe I'm just idyllic, but I don't remember Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, etc. being so....sophisticated. I'll give you that many of Disney's classics are very dark.
Finally, my favorite part of this time of year: SOCCER!!! I would rather go and watch Brenden play soccer than do just about anything else. If someone offered me $1,000 to skip one of his games, I doubt very strongly I would take it. This may be a surprise given my current health, but I was quite the athlete from about 10th grade on. Football, soccer, track, wrestling, lacrosse, you name it, I played it. I have tried indoor soccer and softball, but my body doesn't forgive me like it used to. I was really into lifting weights for about a year and a half, and the benefits were really showing. I just can't get up at 6am anymore.
Thanks for tolerating my musings. Maybe I'll post some diabetes stuff later. Or not. It's my blog, and I'll post what I want!

Personally Halloween is my favorite time of year, but then again I am twisted and evil.
I laughed at the women dressed like tramps reference because it made me think of "Mean Girls" which is one of the best movies ever!
I agree with the cartoon thing...it annoys and disgusts me that little kids can quote Family Guy and South Park...their parents should be turned into CPS...but I think it all started with The Simpson's. The first cartoon geared for adults.
Oh, and football sucks, long live baseball! ;)
Sorry to say that I feel so BLESSED to have a NON-football watching husband. He has a passion for car's which I can share the passion, I'm just the girl if you wanna go work on an old classic or chop the roof of a roadster but roll my eyes HARD at football =)
The weather thing i'm sorry i can't totally simpathise s/p? with because well, I live in San Diego County and where I live it's pretty much 72 year round. Its true tho the mornings are cooler, but a nice jacket is normally sufficient enough.
I don't TOTALLY agree on the Halloween thing, i LOVE halloween. I think it's cute watching the kids dress up and I love walking with them and seeing how happy they are, we also tend to BBQ in the front yard so we can eat and pass out candy and see the kids running up and down the street, but I DO agree on it giving women excuses to dress like Tramps. But luckily I do not fall under that catigory (maybe much to the dilike of my husband)
Cartoons are crap. Unless they watch early disney like Little Einstins or MIckey Mouse Club House. But my girls like Spongbob (gag! it reminds me of ren and stempie)and I think it's their dad that really turned them onto that. But it made me laugh when you talked about the early disney because we have some of their Classic Collection on DVD and MAN! They wouldn't get away with some of that now, but I DO LOVE IT SO!
Get a car starter my sister got one while in MI and she LOVED it!
You are so random!
BTW, which tramp costume did you pick out for me? ;-)
Love You!
Amy
I just want to ask: How cold does it REALLY get in Lubbock, TX?! As a midwesterner I have a hard time sympathizing with that complaint.
Now, as for the sophistication, or lack thereof, of Bugs Bunny and friends, let's not forget that we laughed and laughed as they dropped anvils on each other's heads or Elmer Fudd shooting Daffy Duck in the face with his shotgun. I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just sayin'...
As usual, thanks for sharing.
Holly
Amy,
I've got a few designs in mind! ;)
I like Halloween, just not the ensuing months of dreary days here in the upper Midwest. I also don't know what's wrong with ladies (or guys for that matter) being a little trampy once in a while! :-) :-)
I'm also not buying your cold thing going on in Lubbock...but we all have our circle of reality, right? It's not the cold up here in Cheesehead land....it's when we have to shovel the white stuff.
Take care,
Corey
LOL Amy and Nick, you guys are nuts.
And Hey, I can't live without reading your blog, yours and Kerri's are the two I check every time I get on the computer.... If you can't tell, I haven't been on the computer in a while.
